Hank M. Bounds, Ph.D., became the seventh president of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ of Nebraska on April 13, 2015.
Welcome to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ of Nebraska ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ“ the stateÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s only public university, home to a record-high 53,000 students and 14,000 talented faculty and staff working to serve you through education, research and outreach. I am honored and humbled to serve as president of this great institution. Together, I believe we can make the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ of Nebraska a giant in higher education, doing more than ever to impact the lives of students and people in our state and around the world.
"There's a spirit of partnership here, and a shared commitment to building a better future for our children and grandchildren, that make Nebraska special."
IÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™m not a native Nebraskan, but in the three and a half years that my family and I have lived here, this state has come to truly feel like home. ThereÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s a spirit of partnership here, and a shared commitment to building a better future for our children and grandchildren, that make Nebraska special. Today I am more convinced than on the day I arrived that Nebraska is in a position to change the world.
We have that kind of potential because of you: The students, faculty and staff who are our lifeblood. The farmers and ranchers whose partnership is helping us lead the way in feeding the world. The business leaders who hire our graduates and help bring our innovations to the marketplace. The public servants who have long recognized the critical link between the stateÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s economic success and its university. And the countless alumni and friends whose support, vision and generosity allow us to grow our impact in ways that otherwise wouldnÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™t be possible.
I am deeply grateful for your partnership. And as we look ahead to the 150th anniversary of the founding of the flagship ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ that over time has grown into a vibrant four-campus system, I want to tell you that our best days are absolutely ahead of us. I hope youÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™ll contact me at president@nebraska.edu to share your ideas and comments on how we can grow together for the future.
Thank you for your interest and support of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ of Nebraska.
